The Mad River Inn is located along the picturesque Mad River, surrounded by forest covered mountains, and what seems like endless rows of corn. The original farmhouse was built in 1860 and was part of a fairly large farm, specializing in a New England specialty crop: soldier beans. The inn offers its guests an elegant, tranquil home away from home. Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, and return to a quiet space surrounded by natural wonder in a historic valley farmhouse with modern amenities.
This home has been accepting guests from far off places since at least 1960. Originally opened to the public as a hostel during the winter skiing months. The home was carefully transformed into a 4 seasons Bed and Breakfast in 1987, and has continually operated as such ever since. Much of the original character built into the home by the Jones family in the 19th century has been maintained.
