Legislative Update

The 2026 legislative session may be remembered as the year Vermont began reckoning with the consequences of its recent supermajority era—and with the people most affected by it. 

In the years leading up to this session, large Democratic majorities passed landmark legislation on education, land use, climate, energy, housing, and social policy. 

In 2026, several of those signature achievements came back across the counter—not as celebration, but as repair work.
